place the bottom of the shin guard at the bottom of the styrafoam. this shin guard is acting as your leg channel and knee lock. then cut section out of the styrfoam for the shin guards. Mission and CCM make some stuff that's descent, or if you want durability, Mylec but I would only use the Mylec for ball hockey, they slide really well but the protection sucks. I have also used Tour GTL pads which fit me (I am 5'10 and wear 34in pads on the ice) but there was hardly any knee protection (wore x-game style knee pads underneath to compensate) and there's hardly anything on the sides, but at least they were... First get some regular hockey shin pads,,then get a big thing of styraphome. Hope this helps - I played roller hockey goalie on concrete for over 5 years in California and know what I am talking about. the Mission and CCM you can use for roller hockey with a puck. To help reinforce the bottoms I would advise you to put gorilla tape over the high-wear items if you can afford it,......
